The Fredericksburg Area Museum is pleased to host FAMFaire in historic Market Square on Saturday, December 13th, 2025, from 10:00am – 4:30pm. The event features a spectacular outdoor shopping experience in one of the most beautiful and historic parts of town.
Modeled after traditional German-style markets that began in Nuremberg, Germany (dating from the 16th century) the Fredericksburg Area Museum’s holiday market will include vendors selling traditional crafts and foods. Local musicians play for audiences adding to the perfect environment to evoke the holiday spirit while friends, families and neighbors stroll along tents filled with gifts and treats.
From its earliest function as a market, civic and government site, to its present use as a cultural center, Market Square continues to serve its community as a site of the convergence of historic and contemporary culture. The Fredericksburg Area Museum creates cultural events, like FAMFaire, to draw the community together to promote Fredericksburg’s art, culture, and history, in a way that returns the colonial square to its original intention.
