In honor of Black History Month, join us for a facilitated community discussion of the film Sinners. Participants should watch the movie in advance and then gather for a guided, book-club–style conversation led by Juno Pitchford.

Together, we’ll unpack the film’s themes, cultural context, and deeper meanings while creating space for shared reflection, dialogue, and connection.

Juno Pitchford (Todd) is NAMI’s first Manager of HBCU Engagement and Special Projects, focusing on Black community engagement. He was raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with family roots tied to a plantation near Massaponax.

He helped shape academic history by writing the curriculum for the first Bachelor of Arts in African American Culture at Virginia Commonwealth University, which became the foundation of VCU’s African American Studies Department.

Juno also brings experience as a former counselor for dual-diagnosis adolescents and teens, along with a background as a musician and DJ.
